Research-at-Scale asks what could happen if research could borrow more of those capabilities.

People are the reason for our work. Products, research and technology should begin with human needs and be judged by the value they create in people’s lives.

Research should be understandable, voluntary and reciprocal. People should be able to see what is being studied and learned, help shape the questions, and share in what comes from the answers.

People come with different backgrounds, abilities, resources and ways of experiencing the world. We want our products and research to work across those differences, not ask people to fit around them.

Ethics by design
Responsibility starts before anything gets built. From how we conduct research to how we use AI, clear purpose, human oversight, fairness, safety and accountability should shape our choices, with their downstream effects considered from the start.

Privacy & security by design
Trust depends on protection by default. Consent should be informed and revocable, data minimised, identity kept separate from research data, and access controlled and auditable, with safeguards proportionate to sensitivity.

Embrace complexity
Individual well-being and society are deeply interconnected systems. We look for those interactions, trade-offs and ripple effects, treating them as part of the question rather than simplifying them away.
